I know what it feels like to carry shame like a second skin. To think recovery is about willpower, perfection, or pretending everything’s okay. But healing doesn’t happen through force. It happens through compassion.
My healing came in many forms and formulas, but in the eyes of wolves, I saw myself, my true self for the first time.
in their calm, ancient presence, something shifted. I remembered who I was. My husband Paul introduced me to Shadow, our namesake. She put her forehead to mine and made me part of their pack. Wolf assisted therapy has helped him attain 25 years of sobriety from drugs and alcohol. Together, as a couple, we co-founded Shadowland Foundation where we offer wolf education and healing programs. But I found a home and a family; all a daily reminder of who I truly am and was meant to be.
Now, we help others remember too.
